Couples Therapy

Who is couples therapy for

It is a space to be able to allow space for a couple to see how they are both feeling about their relationship and reflect on what they are getting from it and putting in to it, and picking up on patterns that might be occurring.

It is a space to be able to safely explore what is being felt that needs understanding more, this could be jealousy, infidelity issues, conflicts, difficult life transitions that can cause a couple problems within the relationship and work stresses, family roles and financial problems.

Couples bring a wide range of issues to counselling, from lack of intimacy and communication breakdown to trust, jealousy and infidelity issues. Family conflicts and difficult life transitions can cause problems within a relationship, as can work-related stress or financial problems.

A therapist can support a couple to understand how to communicate differently, to see each other again through different lenses. These might be sharing your concerns when stuck for example, or learning to express yourself and your needs, identify and place boundaries to create healthier relationships.

As your couples therapist I will ensure that I hold your relationship at the heart of our work together, that means I will remain impartial, and not take sides or give advice in a particular direction. My role is to help you to see your patterns more clearly and how you relate to one another, and to find a way forward.

For couples, my focus is not on blame or taking sides. I help couples understand the dynamic between them, improve communication, reduce emotional reactivity, and rebuild connection in a calmer, more constructive way.

Sessions with me are collaborative and grounded in real-life change. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out. You just need a willingness to begin.

We can explore what brings you in to counselling, allowing both parties to be heard in a confidential and safe environment. This can lead to empowering you to make the choices you desire and help reduce the influence of problems.
