I am offering a relational experience of supervision, using my counselling skills and experience, drawing on my coaching, training and mentoring skills from previous work in education and youth work over the last 20 years.
Within our supervision relationship I will encourage you to explore emotional and physical feelings and thoughts and behaviours in the context in which they arise. Working in this way is designed to help enhance the work between you and your clients. It provides you the opportunity to get a sense of your work so together issues can be explored along with the challenges and dilemmas of the work.
I will also be encouraging us to look at the relationship between supervisor and supervisee, what we bring to the relationship and what this might translate for the client work.
Similar to my work as a therapist I sit with openness and believe that the client is the expert on themselves, I will be of the same belief that you know your clients best, and what we discover together in supervision what you might be holding, or sensing or avoiding, and wanting or needing. You can arrive at supervision as you are, with a curiosity without needing to know the answers or feel you have things sorted, I aim to give you something to leave with from supervision, and feel supported.
My own supervision experience has given me strength, encouragement, insight, relationship patterns of reflections and a safe space to learn, in other words it is invaluable, and I would not want to be a therapist without benefiting from supervision. Thus I am motivated to offer the same to my own supervisees continuing the work and support that we offer our clients.
